What the awards actually recognize

AP NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP are not interchangeable. Mahomes’s league awards refer to the 2018 and 2022 regular seasons. His Super Bowl awards refer to LIV, LVII and LVIII—three particular games. A league-MVP season therefore does not automatically imply a championship, and a championship does not require that season’s league MVP.

Three record scopes worth keeping separate

The college passing-yard performance against Oklahoma is an FBS benchmark. The 50-touchdown and 5,250-yard seasons are Kansas City regular-season benchmarks. The 11 passing touchdowns in the 2021 postseason describe one playoff run. Comparing those numbers as if they were the same competition or time span loses the reason each is notable.

“Matched” means a shared mark, not sole ownership. The records below retain their original dates and scope; they are not a continuously checked league leaderboard.
